San Francisco Network Ministries
The Tenderloin
The Tenderloin is a neighborhood most people try to avoid. Within San Francisco, it is #1 in homicides, aggravated assaults, drug use, and incidence of HIV. In addition, it has a large transient homeless population and is one of the city’s hubs for prostitution and drug dealing.
Despite these facts, the Tenderloin is a neighborhood that 25,000 people call
This includes 6,000 frail elderly persons and 4,000 children. It is multi-cultural, including a large population of Southeast Asians. These people are the focus of Network Ministries’ work.
